Back in the saddle again...

Hey, thats reminds me of an old song....well that is another topic for another blog.

Anyway, Bro and I took a ride on Saturday, it was a great day to be outside. Sunny, warm, we started at my house and rode into Downtown on the Greenway. The trail was in good shape, a few puddles along the way, a bit crowded, but we managed to get to Town Hall Brewery for a bite to eat and a few pints. The Cask IPA was as fantastic as I remembered it to be.

I still do not have brakes on my LeTour so I rode Bros old Trek 720. No computer, no lights, no bell. Just me and my pack, to carry home a growler. The Trek has different geometry than does my Schwinn, so, I am still getting used to riding it. I do get more comfortable on the Trek each time I take it out, it is a fine machine.

Sunday we decided to ride out to Ma and Pa's house. We started from Bros house and headed north to pick up the trail at Winnetka. The wind was pretty much at our back for most of the ride. We stopped along the way for an emergency beer, good thing Bro thought to bring them along. It was a fine brew and it tasted pretty good. It was the perfect break.

In all, last week I rode about 40 miles, thats miles that I did not get credit for, but, no worry, I will make them up when I get the brakes on my Schwinn.

Looking forward to a long season of riding!

See you on the Trails!!

Hold on one minute...

As you are aware, the brakes from my original frame do not fit the new frame, so, Cuz got me some new brakes. I was so excited to get them on my frame and take a spin. This nice weather has really gotten me pumped up for some riding. I opened the box to find that the brakes sent to me did not fit my new frame either. What a bummer, what am I to do now. Well, I sent Cuz an email with some specs on the brakes that will fit the new frame and Cuz has sent that email on to the customer sevrice rep that he has been dealing with. I hope to know something more soon.

Here it is!!!

Well, I finally have my bike reconstructed.

Thanks to brotha Steve, I have my green LeTour assembled minus the brakes. When I got my new Frame, it's green, I told Cuz that my new frame was a different color than my old fork. Cuz suggested contacting Schwinn and seeing if we couldn't get a matching fork. So, a few photos from me and a couple phone calls from Cuz and a matching fork was in my hands. On this last Saturday and Sunday, brotha Steve and I got together and assembled LeTour2. We found that the dimensions on the new frame and the fork were about 1/2 inch off from the old frame and fork. So, now I need new brake calipers. Maybe we can hit up Schwinn for some new calipers. I need to get some photos to Cuz and see what he can do.

Stay tuned for further details.

Still, you can check out my new ride.

New Frame

I have received my new frame from Schwinn. It is two tone green. As I picked up the box I thought the box might be empty, it was so light. When I got home I weighed the frame, 4 1/2 pounds!

Are we getting closer?

I had a conversation with Cuz the week before Christmas. He had been asked for the order number, which I was able to provide from the packing slip that was still attached to the box that my LeTour came in. About a week later Cuz e-mailed me asking for the size of my frame, adding that he thought it looked as though Pacific Cycle was going to be sending me a new frame. This assumption is strictly speculation and I do not know at this point one way or the other as to how things will transpire, but, at least there is some continuing conversations and movement seems to be looming on the horizon.
